Both Dutasteride and Finasteride are 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors, meaning they reduce the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT)—the hormone responsible for hair loss. However, Dutasteride is significantly more effective. It blocks over 90% of DHT, whereas Finasteride only reduces about 70%.
Additionally, Dutasteride inhibits both Type I and Type II forms of the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme, while Finasteride only targets Type II. Research published by the National Library of Medicine found that Dutasteride is approximately three times more potent than Finasteride in inhibiting Type II 5AR and 100 times more potent in inhibiting Type I 5AR.
Because of its superior effectiveness in DHT reduction, our products use Dutasteride instead of Finasteride.
